Realizing Seventy Years After The Pearl Harbor Incident, Survivors Reveal Bravery In Trouble

The story of Pearl Harbor may be more than a love story showed on film, brought to life by the famous names of Ben Affleck and Kate Beckinsale. It is, even so, a story of love that emerged from hate.

It's already been 70 years since that infamous Sunday morning of the 7th of December 1941 at a lagoon harbor on the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii - Popularly referred to as pearl harbor. Around 84,000 uniformed American military officers and even personnel were on Oahu on that day. What seems to be a usual, calm Sunday morning turned into horror.

At around 6 in the am, the Japanese carriers started the first wave of dive and horizontal bombers, as well as fighters. The invasion crippled American ships and military installations pretty much minutes before the clock hits 8 in the am. A second wave of 170 Japanese aircrafts pursued. Such was the first deliberate attack on the United States of America.

What actually transpired that morning will forever be remembered. The assault claimed some 2,403 lives, many of which are of our brothers and sisters from the military, including 68 civilians. Sadly, many of the Pearl Harbor survivors currently are in their late 80s and 90s - yet their tales are never forgotten. Family and friends retell their forefathers' tales and vow to pass it on to the future generations.

Fast forward 70 years, only few survivors remain now with some documentaries retelling the experiences. It's sad to comprehend that the youth nowadays might forget about what happened at Pearl Harbor, or simply never knowing it took place.

That fateful Early Sunday morning will forever stay in our hearts. What started as hate that triggered the strike and brought the US to war eventually turned to love as we forgave those who have wronged us and even whom we have wronged in war.
